Bao Sanniang is a fictional character from Luo Guanzhong's epic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. She is presented as the wife of Guan Suo (Guan Yu’s son). She is a brave warrior, much like her husband, and appears primarily in Chinese opera and plays. She has also been introduced by Koei in Kessen II (as Mei Sanniang, a mistranslation) and Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI. A tomb in Guangyuan county is credited to her. Bao Sanniang (鮑三娘) literally translates to ‘Third Lady Bao’.
