Quest: Pien Chueh - Ruins of the Yellow River

Acupuncture originated from parts of China that were scarce in herbs and natural remedies. These doctors then traveled to other towns spreading their knowledge to many settlers, and other intellectuals.

One of the most famous instances of a traveling doctor spreading acupuncture is from the Chinese doctor, Pien Chueh. This famous doctor entered into a new town with one of his students in tow. Pien then began to notice something strange, everyone in the town was sad. Pien inquired about this, and had discovered the the town's beloved Prince had become unconscious, and all attempts to wake him up ended in failure. The townspeople thought the Prince was surely going to die.

Pien then asked the King for an audience because he wanted to try a new technique on the Prince. The King allowed Pien to see the Prince and Pien performed the new practice, acupuncture on him. The Prince immediately regained consciousness. Pien continued to perform acupuncture on him and eventually the Prince was fully healed. Pien was rewarded handsomely by the King, and the King ordered everyone in his court to utilize the new practice of acupuncture. This started the worldwide spread of acupuncture.
